Kermit the Frog, Contemplatin' and a Jump Into a Dream

Kermit the Frog hears voices. He's a talking, singing, acting frog that hears voices.

And I thought I was going crazy.

I was in sales. A sales person. Not too bad at it either. I've worked for an arena football team, an NBA franchise and I've sold sponsorship and hospitality for high profile events in the fourth largest city in America. Sales is what I did.

There was this voice though and the voice was saying, "Hey, go try this other thing. This thing that is completely different."

I said, "Hey voice, that thing you're telling me to try, I'd really love to do that, it sounds like a dream come true, but I'm not qualified and I don't see how that thing is going to keep a roof over my head or food on the table. Also voice, in case you haven't noticed, I'm a single mom. I'm the bread winner. I can't risk what you're trying to talk me into. I'll make you a deal. I'll keep selling stuff and do this other thing when I have time and that should make us both happy."

The voice got louder though. It didn't seem up for the compromise and the louder it got the crazier I thought I was. The more I tried to negotiate with it the more things just weren't working out and it was becoming crystal clear that I could either take a leap in the direction the voice was telling me to go or it was going to find a way to redirect my steps. I chose not to leap. I'm more of a baby steps type of person, especially when the outcome will directly effect my finances. The voice had other plans.

Sales is what I did. It is not who I am.

On Sunday night I laid in bed knowing I wasn't going to get up and head into the office I've gone to for the past three years. It didn't mean I didn't have work to do.

The voice knows what it's talking about. It's not leading us in a direction that we aren't truly prepared for or unable to navigate through and all those months ago when I took that trip to the cornfield in Nebraska and that time back in 2015 when I was drawn to the power of silence found in a then stranger, and now friend, as he introduced me to Contemplative Prayer for the first time there was no way I could have known it was to prepare me for something new as I jump into my dream and settle in as the Contemplative Designer for Awakenings Movement.

I thought I was going crazy.

Kermit the Frog hears voices.

So do I.

I'd be willing to bet that you do to.

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers and me.

To the ENTIRE Awakenings Movement family - thank you for being the landing pad that a Dreamer like me can jump or tiptoe on to with boldness. Shelly, thank you for the quiet confidence, hospitality and love you bring to everything and everyone. Danielle, thank you for showing me that grace, humor, truth and the best dance moves ever all have a spot on the rug and in life.  Marlon, thank you for praying that my pinky toes fall off, for encouraging me to look up from the mud and to look up in wonder while I wander. To my sister from another mister Rebecca  - when I was at my lowest of lows you reminded me that I am loved and worthy. Thank you for your invitation.
